Rehabilitation Program

Rehabilitation Program

For more than 100 years The Salvation Army has been providing assistance to people with a variety of social, spiritual and emotional afflictions through its 119 United States based Adult Rehabilitation Centers (ARC). The Salvation Army’s Broward County ARC provides assistance for men who have lost the ability to cope with their problems and provide for themselves.

The ARC program assists the beneficiaries in learning to live a balanced lifestyle. Participation in all program components is required by every beneficiary. The center offers residential housing, work, and group and individual therapy, all in a clean, wholesome environment. The physical and spiritual care that program participants receive prepares them to re-enter society and return to gainful employment. Many of those who have been rehabilitated are reunited with their families and resume a normal life.

The Broward County ARC program has a 99 bed capacity and operates at 98% occupancy. There can be a waiting list. Call the number below for more information and occupancy status.

Work Therapy & Counseling

Each beneficiary at The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center in Broward County has a 40-hour work therapy assignment. This helps in developing a daily routine and work habits such as punctuality, appropriate dress, learning new skills and working with others. Work therapy also helps the beneficiaries understand that they are contributing to the community and not receiving a "hand-out."

The Broward County ARC has licensed counselors who conduct individual as well as group counseling. Additionally, a medical van comes weekly for basic physical assessments. The ARC programs implements both Celebrate Recovery and AA/NA recovery meetings.

Beneficiaries are guided in developing a résumé to prepare for re-entering the work force. Many graduates of the program stay active in events through our Alumni group.

The Broward County ARC program also offers extramural sports and other activities for beneficiaries. The program has bowling and softball teams throughout the year, as well as a variety of excursions such as trips to the Everglades, the Christmas pageant, Dolphin football games, service projects and more.

Who Is Eligible?

Every potential participant undergoes a comprehensive intake interview to ensure the ARC program is the best possible match for them. If the interview process determines it’s not, we’ll make every effort to refer them to a program that will be.

A long-term commitment of at least six months is required so patterns of poor decision-making can be broken and replaced with positive life choices – changes that will help them become productive citizens of their community.

Applicants* with a desire to get help may be referred by families, friends, courts, clergy and community leaders or may simply call the Intake Office at 1-800-SA-TRUCK (728-7825) to make an appointment or get more information about local ARC programs.
